The preserve now encompasses 17,000 acres, protecting three separate desert dune fields and six palm forests (over 1,500 palms). A trip to this preserve (and donating some money) is much worth than the hundreds of dollars spent on the jeep tours to the fault. The key to being safe during an earthquake is preparation.
